HomeMy WebLinkAbout06598ORDINANCE NO. 6598 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE 2000 COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND LOCAL 537, OF THE INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF POLICE OFFICERS FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPLEMENTING THE PUEBLO POLICE DEPARTMENT ONE TO ONE VEHICLE PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Pueblo, a municipal corporation, (hereinafter the "City") and Local 537 of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers (hereinafter the "Union ") are parties to a Collective Bargaining Agreement (hereinafter the "CBA ") for calendar year 2000, pursuant to the provisions of Article 8 of the Charter of the City of Pueblo; and WHEREAS, the City desires to implement a program whereby certain police officers will be allowed to take vehicles home and utilize said vehicles for limited personal use; and WHEREAS, the implementation of such a program requires amendment of the CBA; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that: SECTION 1. The collective bargaining agreement between the City and the Union, which was approved by Ordinance No. 6496, is hereby amended by the addition of a new section 35.6 to read as follows: 35.6 ONE TO ONE VEHICLE PRO GRAM The Pueblo Police De partmen t One to One Vehicle Program, as set forth in the Policv Memorandum dated June 1, 2000, shall be implemented during the term of this reement. Such Policv shall not be modified in anv manner, unless by written memorandum of understanding executed by the Union and the Chief of Police; provided however, that the parties recognize that the City has no obligation whatsoever to assign any vehicles under such program. SECTION 2. The President of City Council authorized and directed to execute the Agreement for and on behalf of the City of Pueblo and the City Clerk is directed to affix the seal of the City thereto and attest same. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon final passage. DEPARTMENT: ISSUE: Police Department DATE: 09/25/00 Amendment of the Police Union Contract. RECOMMENDATION: The Police Chief recommends approval. BACKGROUND: Contract amendment is required to implement the One on One Vehicle Program. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Undetermined at this time. Ordinance #6598 AGREEMENT AMENDING THE 2000 COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PUEBLO AND LOCAL 537 OF THE INTERNATIONAL BROTHERHOOD OF POLICE OFFICERS FOR THE PURPOSE OF IMPLEMENTING THE PUEBLO POLICE DEPARTMENT ONE TO ONE VEHICLE PROGRAM This agreement is entered into at Pueblo, Colorado, between the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, (hereinafter the "City "), and Local 537 of the International Brotherhood of Police Officers (hereinafter the "Union "). WHEREAS, the City and the Union are parties to a Collective Bargaining Agreement (hereinafter the "CBA ") for calendar year 2000, pursuant to the provisions of Article 8 of the Charter of the City of Pueblo, and WHEREAS, the City desires to implement a program whereby certain police officers will be allowed to take vehicles home and utilize said vehicles for personal use, and WHEREAS, the implementation of such program requires amendment of the CBA; NOW THEREFORE, in consideration of the foregoing, the City and the Union hereby agree to amend the CBA to include an additional Section 35.6: 3 5.6 ONE TO ONE VEHICLE PROGRAM The Pueblo Police Department One to One Vehicle Program, as set forth in the Policy Memorandum dated June 1, 2000, shall be implemented during the term of this agreement. Such policy shall not be modified in any manner, unless by written memorandum of understanding executed by the Union and the Chief of Police; provided, however, that the parties recognize that the City has no obligation whatsoever to assign any vehicles under such program.
