HomeMy WebLinkAbout06571ORDINANCE NO. 6571 AN ORDINANCE SUBMITTING TO THE REGISTERED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF PUEBLO AT THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 2000 QUESTIONS ELIMINATING TERM LIMITS FOR MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND MEMBERS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION AND FIXING THE BALLOT TITLES THEREFOR WHEREAS, the voters of the City of Pueblo may eliminate the limitation on terms of office imposed by Section 11, Article XVIII of the Colorado Constitution; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1 The question of eliminating the terms of office of members of the City Council and members of the Civil Service Commission is hereby submitted to a vote of the registered electors of the City of Pueblo at the special municipal election to be held Tuesday, November 7, 2000. SECTION 2 The ballot titles for the questions are hereby fixed as follows: SHALL THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PUEBLO BE AUTHORIZED TO SERVE MORE THAN TWO (2) CONSECUTIVE TERMS IN OFFICE IF THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF PUEBLO CHOOSE TO RE -ELECT HIM /HER TO OFFICE? YES NO SHALL THE MEMBERS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PUEBLO BE AUTHORIZED TO SERVE MORE THAN TWO (2) CONSECUTIVE TERMS IN OFFICE IF THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF PUEBLO CHOOSE TO RE -ELECT HIM /HER TO OFFICE? YES NO SECTION 3 The City Clerk shall certify the ballot titles to the Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder to be included on the ballot for the special municipal election to be held as a coordinated election on November 7, 2000 in accordance with the Uniform Election Code of 1992.
