HomeMy WebLinkAbout06559ORDINANCE NO. 6559 AN ORDINANCE SUBMITTING TO THE REGISTERED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF PUEBLO AT THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 2000 A QUESTION ELIMINATING TERM LIMITS FOR MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF WATER WORKS OF PUEBLO, COLORADO AND FIXING THE BALLOT TITLE THEREFOR WHEREAS, the Board of Water Works of Pueblo, Colorado has requested the City Council to submit to a vote of the registered electors of the City of Pueblo a question eliminating term limits for members of the Board of Water Works of Pueblo, Colorado who are elected for terms of six (6) years (the "Question "); NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1 The Question shall be and is hereby submitted to a vote of the registered electors of the City of Pueblo at the special municipal election to be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2000. SECTION 2 The ballot title for the Question is hereby fixed to read as follows: SHALL THE MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF WATER WORKS OF PUEBLO, COLORADO BE AUTHORIZED TO SERVE MORE THAN TWO (2) CONSECUTIVE TERMS IN OFFICE IF THE VOTERS OF THE CITY OF PUEBLO CHOOSE TO RE -ELECT HIM /HER TO OFFICE? YES NO SECTION 3 The City Council does hereby find and determine that in order to submit the Question to a vote of the registered electors as requested by the Board of Water Works of Pueblo, Colorado, a special municipal election must be called for Tuesday, November 7, 2000. Therefore, prior to the City Clerk certifying the Question to the Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder for inclusion on the ballot for the special municipal election to be held as a coordinated election on November 7, 2000, the Board of Water Works of Pueblo, Colorado shall deposit with the City's Director of Finance its proportionate share of the City's costs and expenses of the November 7, 2000 special municipal election, as determined by the City Clerk with approval of the President of the City Council. SECTION 4 This Ordinance shall become effective upon final passage.
