CO -90- X105 -01, BETWEEN PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND AUTHORIZING THE PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL TO EXECUTE THE SAME AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 6341. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO, that SECTION 1 A certain Grant Agreement, after having been approved by the City Attorney, by and between PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, and the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, relating to project number CO -90- X105 -01, covering a Federal Transit Administration Grant under Section 49 of the Federal Transit Act, as amended, to assist in meeting the net operating transit expenses incurred by Pueblo Transit during the second half of Fiscal Year 1998, associated capital maintenance, and planning assistance to support transit elements of the FY 1998 Unified Planning Work Program, be and the same is hereby approved. SECTION 2. The President of City Council is hereby authorized to execute said Grant Agreement on behalf of PUEBLO, A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, and the City Clerk shall affix the Seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3. Ordinance No. 6341 is hereby repealed. SECTION 4. This ordinance shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. RECOMMENDATION: Recommend that Pueblo City Council enter into contract with the Federal Transit Administration to assist in financing the operating transit expenses incurred during the second half of Fiscal Year (FY) 1998, associated capital maintenance items and planning assistance to support transit elements of the FY 1998 Unified Planning Work Program. BACKGROUND: Under the Federal Transit Act, as amended, Section 49 USC 5307 allows for the Federal Government to finance second half of the operating deficits of providers of mass transportation. The above stated Grant will enable the City of Pueblo to recover the second half of the operating deficit incurred during FY 1998 along with assistance for the FY 1998 UPWP. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The second -half amount of the grant is $422,355, Federal share in the amount of $337,884 with the balance funded by farebox revenue and the local match ($84,471).
