HomeMy WebLinkAbout06002ORDINANCE NO. 6002 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1 OF TITLE XI OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES PROHIBITING THE TATTOOING OF NIINORS WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT AND PROVIDING PENALTIES THEREFOR WHEREAS, a tattoo may leave an indelibly fixed pattern upon the skin which cannot be removed without leaving a scar, WHEREAS, any minor who obtains a tattoo may have made a decision to either have a tattoo for the rest of that minor's life or a permanent scar, WHEREAS, minors, because of their age and immaturity, may not be able to make such a decision in any informed and knowledgeable manner, WHEREAS, parents have the primary responsibility for their child's will being and are entitled to the support of ordinances designed to aid in the discharge of that responsibility; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that (Brackets indicate material being deleted; underscoring indicates material being added): SECTION 1 Chapter 1 of Title XI of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by the addition of a new section 11 -1 -707 thereto, to read as follows: 11 -1 -707: TATTOOING OF MINORS It shall be unlawful and a Class 1 municipal offense for any person to tattoo any minor without prior written consent of the paren guardian or other person having legal care or custody of such minor. SECTION 2 Any person found guilty of violating any provision of this Ordinance declared to be a municipal offense shall be punished as provided by §11 -1 -103 of the Code of Ordinances, as amended. SECTION 3 This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon final passage and approval.
