AN ORDINANCE AMENDING RULE 25 OF THE CIVIL
SERVICE RULES OF CHAPTER 13 OF TITLE VI OF THE
1971 CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PUEBLO,
RELATING TO CIVIL SERVICE PREFERENCE POINTS
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, COLORADO,
that:

SECTION 1.
Rule 25 of the Civil Service Rules of Chapter 13 of
Title VI of the 1971 Code of Ordinances of the City of Pueblo
is hereby amended to read as follows:
RULE 25: SENIORITY PREFERENCE
For all [promotional] examinations employee
candidates shall receive preference in the determination
of general ratings by adding one -half (1/2) point to the
passing score of eligible candidates for each complete
year of classified service with the City except for
Fire and Police Department promotional examinations for
those positions listed in Sections 6 -4 -8 and 6 -4 -9
of this Code, where service within the respective
department as firefighting or law enforcement personnel
shall be used to compute seniority preference points.
Candidates who have voluntarily separated from the City
classified service and have been subsequently reappointed
to a position in said service from an eligibility of
re- employment list shall have their seniority preference
points computed on the basis of their years on the city
classified service since such reappointment.
SECTION 2.
This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon final
passage and approval. Any person who is employed as firefighting
or law enforcement personnel on the date of final passage and
approval of this Ordinance, shall be entitled to seniority points
computed upon his years of service with the City in promotional
examinations within the department in which said person was employed
on such date. If any section, subsection, phrase or clause of this
Ordinance is, for any reason, held to be invalid, such decision shall
not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance.
