HomeMy WebLinkAbout00594ORDINANCE 594 AN ORDINANCE Concerning Junk Stores and the Regulation and Licensing of same, and Fixing Penalties for the Violation of the Ordinance. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PUEBLO: Sec. 1. It shall not be lawful for any person to engage in or cant' on a junk store business without having first obtained a license therefore from the City of Pueblo; and any person who shall engage in or carry on a junk store business, without first having obtained from the said City a license so to do, shall, upon conviction, be fined not less than Fifty dollars ($50.00), nor more than Three bndred dollars ($300.00) Sec. 2. The charge for license to engage in or carry on a junk store business shall be the sum of Twenty-five dollars ($25.00) perquarter of a year, or fraction of such quarter, payable in advance; and upon the payment to the Clerk of said City the sum of Twenty -five dollars ($25.00), by the applicant for such license, said Clerk shall issue license to such applicant for a period of one quarter of a year or fraction thereof, which license shall give to such applicant permission to carry on such business at a place therein designated. The quarters herein referred to shall begin on the first day of January, April, July and October of each and every year. The applicant for such license shall give to the clerk a description of the locality in which the said business is to be conducted, and the license, when issued, shall designate the locality in which the said junk store business may be carried on under such license, and said license shall be for but one place of business. The holder of license to engage in or carry on such business may have the place of business changed, upon making a written application to the Clerk for such change, to be noted in the license. Sec. 3. Every person engaged in or carrying on a junk store business shall keep a substantial, well bound book, in which he or she shall enter, or cause to be entered, a minute description of all the personal property purchased by him or her, the date of the purchase, the name, residence and place of business of the person or persons from whom such purchase was made, and particular mention of any prominent or descriptive mark that may be on said property, and all the entries made therein shall be made in ink, and said book shall be kept legible clean and neat. Every person, so licensed, shall, during the ordinary hours of business, when requested by any police officer of said City, submit and exhibit the book described above to the inspection of any of the above named officers, and shall also exhibit such goods or personal property to any of the aforesaid officers. Any person failing or refusing to comply with any requirement of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined not less than Fifty dollars ($50.00), nor more than Three hundred dollars ($300.00). Sec. 4. Any person licensed to engage in or cant' on a junk store business, who shall by himself, his agent or servant, purchase of or receive from any minor, without the written consent of the parent or guardian of such minor, any article whatsoever, shall, upon conviction thereof, be fined not less than Fifty dollars ($50.00), nor more than Three hundred dollars ($300.00).
