AN ORDINANCE FAKING CERTAIN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATIONS.
WHEREAS, the unusual floods and the breaking of
The Bessemer Ditch, occurring since the making of the. annual
appropriations for the current year, resulting in serious
damage to , several streets, has necessitated an unusual expenditure
which could not have been foreseen or Provided for at the time
of making the annual npropriations , and- the street and bridge
fund has become se depleted as to be insufficient for the
absolute necessities of said department for the .remainder of
the Fiscal year; and,
WHEREAS, owing to an unusual number of contag sous
diseases since the making; of said annual appropriation,
the Health Fund has been wholly exhausted, and there still being
a great marry cases of contagious disease in the City requiring
constant attention and expenditure; and.,
WHFX -F&S, cawing to an unusual number of prisoners in
the City Jail to be fed, said Jail Pond is so depleted as to be j
insufficient for the maintenance of said department; and,
WHEREAS, the Contingent raud has been wholly exhausted
owing to expenditures from that fund for other departments,
NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the foregoing
premises,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PUEBLO, COLORADO:
Section 1. That an emergency appropriation ba made
for the several funds above named as follows, SO wit:

The above ordinanceNo.574,was passed at a regular meeting of the
c t y council held Monday evening,December 3d,I90O.by a majority vote
711 the aldermen elect. It was presented to the Mayor for his signatue
he returned itynot apprtived ",under date of Dec.4th his reasons
for vetoing same. Said veto and au ordinance was »resented to the
city council at their regular meeting,December IOth,and was by the coin
cil passed over the Mayor's veto by a majority vote of all aldermen
