AN ORDINANCE, entitled An Ordinance regulating the erection and maintaining of
Bill Boards, and Bill Posting and Distributing within the City of Pueblo.

Section 1.
No person or persons, firm or corporation, shall, within the corporate limits
of the City of Pueblo, directly or indirectly or by another, either as principal,
agent, clerk or servant, erect or maintain, or cause to be erected or maintained,
any bill board or other streture designed to be used for advertising purposes,
whereon any poster, bill, printing, painting or other advertising matter whatsoever
may be placed, stuck, tacked, posted, printed or fastened without first having ob-
tained a license from the City of Pueblo so to do; provided that nothing herein
contained shall be considered as preventing the proprietor, owner, or agent of any
lot or lots or of any business, from advertising such lot or lots or such business,
upon said lot or lots or within the place or premises where such business is carried
on e
Section 2.
No person or persons, firm or corporation, shall directly or indirectly,
either in person or by another, erect or maintain, or caused to be erected or main-
tained, any bill board or other structure as mentioned in Section 1 of this Ordinance,
in or on any public street, alley, bridge, building, park or other public place,
within the City of Pueblo, which is owned or controlled by said City.
Section 3.
It shall be unlawful for any person or persons, firm or corporation to post or
cause to be posted or placed, any advertising matter whatsoever upon or about any
private building, structure, fence, telegraph or telephone pole, tree or any part
thereof, without the written consent of the owner first had and obtained.

Section 4.
Any person or persons, firm or corporation who erect or maintain bill boards or
other stru6ture as described in Section 1 of this ordinance, shall at their own
expense, keep the gound on & ither side of said bill boards clean and free from waste,
filth and accumulation of any kind or nature whatsoever, and shall keep the same in
good healthy, clean and sanitary condition.
Section 5.
Before any license shall issue tinder the provisions of this Ordinance for
erecting or maintaining bill boards in said City of Pueblo, the applicant therefor
shall give bond to the City of Pueblo in the sum of two thousand (2 dollars,
with sureties to be approved by the Mayor of said City, conditioned that the said
person or persons, firm or corporation, shall and will hold the said City of Pueblo
harmless from any costs or expenses occasioned by any injury or casualty happening
to any person or property, real or personal, either directly or indirectly, through
the erection or maintainance or the negligent manner of erecting and maintaining
any bill board, or other such structure, erected by such person, firm or corporation
in the said City of Pueblo.
Section 6.
It shall be unlawful for any person to distribute any bill, posters, circulars,
dodgers, or devices used to advertise patent medicines, patent articles, shows,
theatrical performances or for any other purpose for which posters, circulars, dod-
gers, devices or bills are circulated or distributed to attract the attention of the
public, without having first obtained a license from the City of 'Pueblo so to do -
Provided, it'sliall be unlawful for any person, whether with or without license, to
distribute any such posters, dodgers, circulars, bills or other devices upon any of
the streets of said City of Pueblo.
Section 7.
The Clerk may issue a license, first, to any person, persons, firm or corporation,
desiring to engage in the business of erecting or maintaining bill boards or of
carrying on the business of bill posters, upon such person, firm or corporation,
complying with the provisions of this Ordinance and paying to such Clerk for such
license the sum of fifty (50) dollars per annum in advance; or second, to any
person, persons, firm or corporation desiring to engage in the business of erecting
or maintaining bill boards and carrying on the business of bill posters, and like-
wise bill distributors, upon payment of the sum of seventy -five (75) dollars per
am um in advance; and third, to any person, persons, firm or corporation desiring
to engage in the business of bill distributsrs alone,, upon the payment of the sum
of twenty -five dollars per annum in advance.

Section 8.
No license shall issue under the provisions of this Ordinance for a less period
than six (6) months.
Section 9.
Any person_, persons, firm or corporation, or representative thereof violating
any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction, be fined in any sum
not less than five (5) nor more than one hundred (100) dollars for each and every
offense.
Section 10.
All Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict or inconsistent herewith
are hereby repealed.
