HomeMy WebLinkAbout00497l � / ORDINANCE NO 497 An Ordinance concerning Health Commissioner. Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Pueblo, Colorado. Section 1. That there be and is hereby created and established the office of Health Commissioner of the City of Pueblo, who shall be elected by a majority vote of the City Council, whose term of office shall be for a period of two years, except as hereinafter provided. In the year 1896, immediatel after the reorganization of the City Council, a Health Commissioner, who shall be a regularly licensed and practicing physiacian and surgeon, shall be elected for a period of one year and in each succeeding odd year thereafter immediately after the reorganization of the City Council, or as soon thereafter a practicalbe, a Health Commissioner shall be elected by a majorrty vote of the Council and shall hold his office for a period of two years. Section 2. The office of City Physician shall be and is hereby abolished. It shall be the duty of the Health Commissioner to perform all duties heretofore required to be performed by the City Physician, and to do and perform such other as may now or hereafter be required of such Health Commissioner by the ordianances of the City or the laws of the State. He shall have general charge and control of the Health Department of the City and be the executive officer of the City Board of Health. It shall be also the duty of the Health Commissioner to do and perform the duties usaully required of and incident to the Office of Police Surgeon. Section 3. The salary of Health Commissioner shall be the sum of twelve hundred dollars ($1290) per annum payable monthly. Passed and Approved Attest C.E. Ross City — M April 13th A.D. 1896 Approved A.G.
