An ordinance concerning ward boundaries in the City of Pueblo.
Whereas, upon the ninth day of March, A.D. became and were consolidated under the
name of the City of Pueblo; and,
Whereas, the articles of consolidation at that time adopted by said cities and town
described the boundaries of the several wards in what, at that time, constituted the consolidated
city; and,
Whereas, on the thirteenth day of March, A.D. 1894, the City of Bessemer became and
was annexed to the said consolidated city of Pueblo, and became a part thereof under and by
virtue of the statues of the State of Colorado; and,
Whereas, the said statute requires that during the year next succeeding the time of such
annexation, the said annexed cities should be divided into wards in accordance with the vote
cast at the last City election.
Now, therefore, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Pueblo, Colorado:
Section 1. That the City of Pueblo shall be divided into eight (8) wards, the boundaries
of which said wards are hereby fixed as follows, to wit:
FIRST WARD. ---All that portion of the city of Pueblo situate and being west of the Fountaine
qui Bouille river and north of Tenth St. and that portion south of Tenth street and north of the
Arkansas river, situate west of the State Insane Asylum grounds.
SECOND WARD. - -- -AII that portion of the City of Pueblo situate east of the center line of the
Fountaine qui Bouille river.
THIRD WARD. - -- -AII that portioin of the city of Pueblo being described and bounded as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Tenth street with the center of the Fountaine
qui Bouille; thence west along the center line of Tenth street to its intersection with the center
line of Court street; thence south along the center line of Court Street to its intersection with the
center line of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad right of way; thence south easterly
along said center line of right of way to its intersection with the center line of Main street; thence
south -west along said center line of Main street to its intersection with the center of the
Arkansas river; thence south - easterly along said center line of the Arkansas river to its
intersection with the Eighth guide Meridian; thence North along the Eighth Guide Meridian to its
intersection with the north line of the South -west quar3ter of Section thirty -one, (31). Township
twenty (20) South Range sixty -four (64) West; thence east along said section line to its
intersection with the center line of the Fountaine qui Bouille river; thence northerly along the
center line of said Fountaine qui Bouille river following its various meanderings to the place of
beginning.
FOURTH WARD - - -- Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Main street with the
center line of the Arkansas river; thence northeasterly along said center line of Main street to its
intersection with the center line of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad right of way;
thence northwesterly along said center line of right of way to its intersection with the center line
of Court street; thence north along said center line of Court street to its intersection with the
center line of Tenth street; thence west along said center line of Tenth street to its intersection
with the east boundary line of the State Insane Asylum grounds; thence south along said east
line of the Asylum grounds to the South side of Eighth street; thence east along the south line of
Eighth street to the North quarter corner of Section thirty -six (36). Township twenty (20), South
Range sixty -five (65) West; thence south along the north boundary line of Thatcher & Gast's
Addition to the City of Pueblo; thence west along said north boundary line to the west boundary
line of said addition; thence south along the west boundary line to the south boundary line of
said addition; thence east along said south boundary line to its intersection with the said north
and south center line of said section thirty -six (36); thence in a southeasterly course following
the various meanderings of the City limits in this locality to a point where said city limits line
intersects the east and west center line or said Section thirty -six (36) to its intersection with the
center of the Arkansas river; thence southeasterly along the center of said Arkansas river to the
place of beginning.
FIFTH WARD - - -- Beginning at a point where the center line of Union Avenue intersects the
center line of the Arkansas river; thence southwesterly along said center line of Union Avenue to
its intersection with the center line of Abriendo Avenue; Thence northwesterly along said center
line of Abriendo Avenue to its intersection with the center line of Quincy street, if produced;
thence southwesterly along said center line of Quincy street, if produced; thence southwesterly
along said center line of Quincy street to its intersection with the center line of Adams avenue;
thence northwesterly along the center line of Adams avenue to its intersection with the center
line of Argyle avenue; thence north along the center line of said Argyle avenue to its intersection
with the east and west center line of the North -west quarter of Section thirty -five (35). Township
twenty (20) South Range sixty -five (65) West; thence east along said one - sixteenth section line
to its intersection with the north and south center line of said Section thirty -five (35); thence
north along said north and south center line of Section thirty -five (35) to the South line of the
Denver and Rio Grande Railway right of way; thence southeasterly along said south line of the
Denver and Rio Grande Railway right of way to a point where the northwest line of First street,
South Pueblo, if produced southwesterly, would intersect said railroad right of way line; thence
northeasterly to and along the boundary line of the City limits in this locality to a point where
said city limits line strikes the Arkansas river; thence east and southeasterly along said
Arkansas river to the place of beginning.
SIXTH WARD. - - -- Beginning at a point where the center line of Union avenue intersects the
center line of the Arkansas river; thence southwesterly along said center line of Union Avenue to
its intersection with the center lie of Fairview Avenue; thence east along said center line of
Fairview Avenue to a point where said center line, if produced, would intersect the Eighth Guide
Meridian; thence north along the Eighth Gu9ide Meridian to the southwest corner of Stanton and
Snyder's addition; thence east and north and west following the boundaries of Stanton and
Snyder's Addition to a point where the extreme north line of said addition intersects the Eighth
Guide Meridian, being the Northwest corner of Stanton and Snyder's Addition; thence north
along said Eighth Guide Meridian to the center of the Arkansas river; thence northwesterly along
the center line of said Arkansas river to the place of beginning.
SEVENTH WARD. - - -- Beginning at the intersection of the center line of Abriendo avenue with
the center line of Quincy street, if projected; thence southwesterly along the center line of
Quincy street to its intersection with the center line of Adams avenue; thence southeasterly
along the center line of Adams avenue to its intersection with the center line of Jefferson street;
thence northeasterly along the center line of Jefferson street to its intersection with the center
line of Orman avenue; thence southeasterly along the center line of Orman avenue to its
intersection with the center line of Eaton avenue; thence south along the center line of Eaton
avenue to its intersection with the center line of Mesa avenue; thence east along the said center
line of Mesa avenue to its intersection with the west boundary line of the Denver and Rio
Grande Railway right of way; thence south along said right of way line to its intersection with the
center line of Northern avenue; thence east along the center line of Northern avenue to its
intersection with the Eighth Guide Meridian; thence north along said Eighth Guide Meridian to its
intersection with the center line of Fairview avenue, if produced; thence west along said center
line of Fairview avenue to center line of Abriendo avenue to place of beginning.
EIGHTH WARD. - -- -Being all that portion of Uplands Park described and bounded as follows:
Beginning at a point where the center line of Eaton avenue intersects the center line of Orman
avenue; thence south along said center line of Eaton avenue to its intersection with the center
line of Mesa avenue; thence east along said center line of Mesa avenue to its intersection with
the west boundary line of the Denver and Rio Grande right of way; thence south along said
railroad right of way line to its intersection with the center line of Northern avenue; thence south,
west, north and east following the various meanderings of the boundary lines of Uplands Park to
a point where the extreme north boundary line of said Uplands Park intersects the center line of
Argyle avenue; thence south along said center line of Argyle avenue to its intersection with the
center line of Adams avenue; thence southeast along said center line of Adams avenue to its
intersection with the center line of Jefferson avenue; thence northeast along said center line of
Jefferson avenue to its intersection with the center line of Orman avenue; thence southeast
along said center line of Orman avenue to the place of beginning.
