HomeMy WebLinkAbout10742 City Clerk's Office Item # R5 Background Paper for Proposed Ordinance COUNCIL MEETING DATE: July 22, 2024 TO: President Mark Aliff and Members of City Council CC: Mayor Heather Graham VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Barb Huber, Fire Chief SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE GRANT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PUEBLO AND CARING FOR COLORADO FOUNDATION FOR THE DOTS PROGRAM AND ACCEPTANCE OF $7,500 FOR PROJECT PS2401 AND AUTHORIZING THE MAY TO EXECUTE THE SAME SUMMARY: The Grant Agreement, administered by the Pueblo Fire Department, is for identifying and providing ramps in the community for the DOTS Program (Directing Others To Services) through financial assistance. The amount of $7,500 will be placed in project number PS2401 for said purpose. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: n/a. BACKGROUND: The Pueblo Fire Department works closely in partnership with other agencies in the community to help citizens with physical resources, such as providing ramps for access to their homes. The Directing Others to Services (DOTS) program is a community- based program whose purpose is to connect community members with these resources. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Administration of the DOTS program. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None. ALTERNATIVES: None. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Ordinance. ATTACHMENTS: None ORDINANCE NO. 10742 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE GRANT AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PUEBLO AND CARING FOR COLORADO FOUNDATION FOR THE DOTS PROGRAM AND ACCEPTANCE OF $7,500 FOR PROJECT PS2401 AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE SAME WHEREAS, The Grant Agreement, administered by the Pueblo Fire Department, is for identifying and providing financial assistance to community members for handicap ramps through the DOTS Program (Directing Others To Services). WHEREAS, the $7,500 is in addition to the approval by City Council of $15,000 in 2023 and is to bridge the needs of the Pueblo Fire Department DOTS program while other suitable funding sources are locate; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The Grant Agreement, attached hereto, after being approved by the City Attorney, is hereby approved, and the grant funds of $7,500 is to be placed in project PS2401 for use in the DOTS program, is hereby approved. SECTION 2. The Mayor, is hereby authorized to execute said Grant Agreement for and on behalf of the City and the City Clerk is authorized to affix the seal of the City thereto and attest same. SECTION 3. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Ordinance and the attached Grant Agreement to implement the policies and procedures described therein. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council.
