SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE STREET NAME OF TOBIAS T
AVENUE TO WILLIAM CRAWFORD AVENUE
SUMMARY:
The City is requesting to change the name of Tobias T Avenue to William Crawford
Avenue generally located east of Walking Stick Boulevard and north of Walking Stick
Golf Course.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
The City is concurrently requesting the change the name of Vision Hills Parkway to Carl
Sitter Parkway (SNC-24-01) and Dockum Road to Warren Dockum Road (SNC-24-03).
BACKGROUND:
The City is requesting this Street Name Change, in tandem with two other name
s will
complement the existing streets, Jerry Murphy and Drew Dix, all of which will have their
street signs outfitted with new Medal of Honor Signs that reference which war the
veteran is being honored for. William J. Crawford was a Pueblo-born U.S. Army solider
and Medal of Honor recipient during World War II. This proposed street is within Parcel
J, North Vista Highlands, Filing No. 1, east of Antonito Way and extending north from
Vision Hills Parkway. No properties are currently addressed on this street, so staff
anticipates no issues with the proposal.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
There are no financial implications for the City.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
The Planning and Zoning Commission, at their June 12th, 2024 Regular Meeting, voted
7-0 to recommend approval.
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
If City Council does not approve this Ordinance, the current street name would remain.
ALTERNATIVES:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the Ordinance.

AN ORDINANCE CHANGING THE STREET NAME OF TOBIAS
T AVENUE TO WILLIAM CRAWFORD AVENUE
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
The street known as Tobias T Avenue is hereby changed to William Crawford Avenue.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of the Ordinance to implement the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon final action by the Mayor
and City Council.

Final adoption of Ordinance by City Council on July 22, 2024.

Applicable Regulations:
Sec. 12-5-1 through 6 of the Pueblo Municipal Code (PMC) concerning vacations of streets, alleys, etc.
Request and Staff Findings:

extending north from Vision Hills Parkway (proposed to be renamed to Carl Sitter Parkway). No properties
are currently addressed on this street, so staff anticipates no issues with the proposal.
Recommended Action:
If the Planning and Zoning Commission finds the proposed Street Name Change is appropriate, Staff
recommends that a recommendation to change the street name be forwarded to City Council.
