HomeMy WebLinkAbout15688RESOLUTION NO. 15688 A RESOLUTION AWARDING A CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,034,976.00 TO RUSS GRADING AND EXCAVATING LLC AND SETTING FORTH $406,995.00 FOR CONTINGENCIES, FOR PROJECT NO. 24-082 (WWAN01) 2024 SMALL MAIN REMOVE AND REPLACE PROJECT AND AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASING AGENT TO EXECUTE THE SAME. WHEREAS, competitive bids for the Project No. 24-082 (WWAN01) 2024 Small Main Remove and Replace Project have been received and examined; and WHEREAS, the proposal of Russ Grading and Excavating LLC of Pueblo, Colorado was the lowest of those bids determined to be responsive; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that SECTION 1. City Council authorizes Project No. 24-082 (WWAN01) 2024 Small Main Remove and Replace Project to be performed, and the contract for said project is hereby awarded to Russ Grading and Excavating LLC, in the amount of $2,034,976.00. SECTION 2. Funds for Project 24-082 (WWAN01) shall be from the Sewer User Funds. SECTION 3. The Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to execute said contract on behalf of Pueblo, A Colorado Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 4. In addition to the amount of the bid set forth, as aforementioned, an additional amount as stipulated in this section is hereby established for contingencies and additional work. SECTION 5. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution and the contract to implement the transactions described therein. SECTION 6. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. SUMMARY: Attached is a Resolution awarding a construction contract to Russ Grading and Excavating LLC for Project No. 24-082 (WWAN01), 2024 Small Main Remove and Replace Project. The project will remove and replace the deteriorated Small Sewer Mains and Manholes for the sites listed below PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None BACKGROUND: The Wastewater Department maintains a priority list of deteriorating sanitary sewer mains. All the sites on the project were taken from this list due to their deteriorated structural condition. To protect the public interest, these mains require rehabilitation. The cost breakdown for the project is as follows: Description Sewer Related Surface Related Council District 1 Remove and Replace $1,631,352.00 $403,624.00 1, 2, & 4 Project % 80% 20% The total cost of the project is estimated at $2,034,976.00, including contingencies. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The cost of the construction project was bid at $2,034,976.00 with contingencies of $406,995.00. Funds are available from the Sewer User Funds and have been budgeted and appropriated to Project No. 24-082 (WWAN01). BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None ALTERNATIVES: Alternative No. 1 - No Action If no rehabilitation is performed on the collection system, the condition of the sanitary mains will continue to deteriorate until an emergency repair is required. The Wastewater Department would also risk violating its discharge permit if a sanitary sewer overflow were to happen.
