HomeMy WebLinkAbout15665RESOLUTION NO. 15665 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING BRETT BOSTON TO FILL THE VACANT AT-LARGE CITY COUNCILOR SEAT CREATED BY THE RESIGNATION OF CHARLES HERNANDEZ. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that SECTION 1. Pursuant to Section 2-6 of the Charter of the City of Pueblo, Brett Boston ishereby appointed to fill the vacancy created in Council District At-Large by the resignation of Charles Hernandez. This appointment shall expire on December 31, 2025, when the vacancy shall be filled by the results of the November 4, 2025, General Election. SECTION 25 This Resolution shall become effective upon passage. SUMMARY: ThisResolution appointsaqualified individualto fill the At-Large vacancy on City Council, created by the resignation of Charles Hernandez. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: OnMay18,2024,CharlesHernandezsubmittedhisresignationfromhispositionon City Council, At-Large. Per Section 2-6 of the City Charter, any vacancy in an elective office shall be filled by appointment of the Council. Any person appointed to fill a vacancy in an elective office shall have the qualifications required of persons regularly elected and shall hold the office until the next general municipal election when the vacancy shall be filled by election according to law and until his successor is qualified. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: None. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Letters of interest and resumes were accepted from individuals wishing to be considered for appointment to this At-Large Council position. 22 applications were received. Members of Council reviewed the applications and chose who would receive an interview. Interviews of all finalists were held on Thursday, June 13, 2024. ALTERNATIVES: None.
