BACKGROUND:
In December 2022, the City applied for a Colorado State Outdoor Recreation grant
through the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office (OREC), a division of the

of Outdoor Recreation Administrator for the City of Pueblo. The City was notified in
October 2023 that the grant application was approved in the amount of $100,000.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The Outdoor Recreation Administrator position will be paid through the OEDIT grant in
the amount of $100,000 from June 2024 through June 2025. The position will be
responsible for its own long-term sustainability through measurable revenue-generating
activities, to include, but not limited to new taxes collected, activity fees, venue rental
fees, licenses and permits, leverage grants, and sponsorships of signature events.
Based on the revenue generated, the City will budget for the Outdoor Recreation
Admini
award funds are exhausted.
There are no anticipated operating expenses included in this grant award. The City will
have to cover those expenses in the first year through existing Parks and Recreation
operating budgets, then budget for these anticipated expenses moving forward as
needed.
