A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2024 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO THE SANGRE DE CRISTO ARTS CENTER
IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500 TO SPONSOR THE
ANNIVERSARY GALA ON FRIDAY, JUNE 7, 2024 AT 6 PM AT
THE SANGRE DE CRISTO ARTS CENTER
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,500 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2024
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center to sponsor
the Anniversary Gala on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 6 pm.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

TO THE SANGRE DE CRISTO ARTS CENTER IN THE AMOUNT OF
$1,500 TO SPONSOR THE ANNIVERSARY GALA ON FRIDAY, JUNE 7,
2024 AT 6 PM AT THE SANGRE DE CRISTO ARTS CENTER
SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of Sangre de Cristo Arts Center in
the amount of $1,500 to sponsor the Anniversary Gala on Friday, June 7, 2024, at 6 pm
at the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council sponsored this event for $1,500 in 2023 and for $1,200 in 2020, 2019, and
2017.
BACKGROUND:
As you prepare for the year 2024, we would like to invite you to sponsor the 52nd
annual gala of the Sangre de Cristo Arts & Conference Ce
celebrate Japanese culture and open our summer exhibition "Portrait of Nature:
Myriads of Gods" on Friday, June 7th. The exhibition will showcase the work of two
internationally renowned Japanese photographers, Nobuyuki Kobayashi and Masato
Okazaki.
Their work highlights the Japanese culture's longtime reverence and respect for nature
and how their thinking aligns with the Shinto belief that gods reside in all things. The
arrative to a time when the
spirits of gods in nature itself were revered. The works of two Colorado artists, Mieko
Kaneshi and Margaret Kasahara, will also be displayed. Kaneshi combines the
disciplined study of Japanese art with the boldness of the Wild West in a unique artistic
style. Kasahara explores personal and social identity in her drawings, paintings, and
mixed media work.
This will be a special moment for the Arts Center, its board of trustees, staff, volunteers,
and instructors, as we acknowledge and pay tribute to the vision, commitment, and
supporters over the past half-century.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Payment of funds in the amount of $1,500 would be paid from the Council
Contingencies Account in the 2024 General Fund Budget to the Sangre de Cristo Arts
Center.

City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
