SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION CHANGING THE BESSEMER II AND THE
BERKLEY/BEULAH II TRANSIT ROUTES TO THE NORTH SHOPPING
AND SOUTH SHOPPING ROUTES STARTING ON JUNE 3, 2024
SUMMARY:
The Resolution changes the Bessemer II and the Berkley/Beulah II to the North and
South Shopping routes expanding service area and shortens commute times across the
City providing a better service to the community without adding cost to the current
service. Essentially re-purposing underperforming Transit routes into more beneficial
commuter shopping routes.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
No previous Council Action.
BACKGROUND:
Pueblo Transit has continually operated a Bessemer II and a Berkley/Beulah II route to
supplement a demand on those routes during peak operating times and over the years
these two trailer routes have become underutilized and essentially nonproductive from
their original conception. The re-envisioned routes South and North Side Shopping are
a boost to the city by providing reliable transportation to destination shopping areas
which has been asked for by the Pueblo Transit ridership. These routes more efficiently
allow for new access in Pueblo with a faster commute time delivering time and
increased satisfaction to the citizens of Pueblo.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
There are no financial implications as the re-purposing is not adding service, just re-
purposing existing service.
