AN ORDINANCE BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING $71,500
FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED FUND BALANCE FROM THE
GENERAL FUND AND AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITURE OF
THE SAME TO THE MARIPOSA CENTER FOR SAFETY FOR
OPERATIONAL COST THROUGH JUNE 2024
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Seventy-one thousand five hundred dollars ($71,500) of unappropriated fund balance
from the General Fund is hereby budgeted and appropriated for the purpose of providing
funding to the Mariposa Center for Safety for operational costs.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform all acts consistent with the
intent of this Ordinance to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Ordinance shall become effective upon approval of the following actions:
Action by City Council:
Introduced and initial adoption of Ordinance by City Council on February 26, 2024.
Final adoption of Ordinance by City Council on March 11, 2024.

SUMMARY:
The proposed Ordinance will budget and appropriate seventy-one thousand five
hundred dollars ($71,500) of unappropriated fund balance from the General Fund,
authorizing the expenditure of the same on operational costs at the Mariposa Center for
Safety.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Not applicable to this Ordinance.
BACKGROUND:
The Mariposa Center for Safety delivers intervention and prevention services by
providing safe, confidential shelter, case management, domestic violence education,
court accompaniment, advocacy, and community referral. The purpose of the Mariposa
Center for Safety is to reduce the incidence of domestic violence, sexual assault, and
human trafficking and empower women and their families.
The Mariposa Center For Safety has requested the City provide additional funding to
allow their operations to continue until the new fiscal cycle for grant funding.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
The unappropriated fund balance in the General Fund will be reduced by seventy-one
thousand five hundred dollars ($71,500).
