HomeMy WebLinkAbout15547RESOLUTION NO. 15547 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2024 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO MARIPOSA CENTER FOR SAFETY IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,000 TO SPONSOR THE MOTHER'S DAY VIRTUAL SILENT AUCTION TO BE HELD FROM MAY 3RD THROUGH MAY 5TH, 2024 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $1,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2024 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Mariposa Center for Safety to sponsor the Mother's Day Virtual Silent Auction to be held from May 3rd through May 5th, 2024. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: City Council has supported this organization in the past through other events. BACKGROUND: Mariposa Center for Safety is committed to ending domestic violence in our community. Did you know that 1 in 3 women, and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence. Nearly twenty people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. In addition, domestic violence has been proven to be generational. Mariposa Center for Safety is equipped to take on these challenges and is committed to helping victims become survivors and empowering them to self- sufficiency. Your contribution as a sponsor or donor will help support Mariposa Center for Safety's essential programs: • Domestic Violence Services - including 24/7 secure and confidential shelter services • Teresa's Place - supervised visitation and safe exchange services for families • Youth Homelessness Program -referrals, resources provided to youth in our community 4 Community Outreach and Prevention - provides education to K-12, college students, community partners and community members with information on prevention and resources. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $1,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2024 General Fund Budget to Mariposa Center for Safety. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: N/A ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
