HomeMy WebLinkAbout15496RESOLUTION NO. 15496 A RESOLUTION RATIFYING PACOG’S JOINT APPOINTMENT OF BRANDON MARTIN, ANDREA NAGLICH, SOL SANDOVAL TAFOYA, AND CALLICO VARGAS TO THE PUEBLO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION AND RATIFYING THE REAPPOINTMENT OF RIYA SINGH TO THE PUEBLO HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION - YOUTH POSITION WHEREAS, PACOG duly convened and appointed Brandon Martin, Andrea Naglich, Sol Sandoval Tafoya, and Callico Vargas to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission to serve three-year terms expiring on December 31, 2026; it is now the desire of the Pueblo City Council to ratify said appointment; and, WHEREAS, PACOG duly convened and reappointed Riya Singh to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission to serve a one-year term expiring on December 31, 2024 as the Youth Appointee; it is now the desire of the Pueblo City Council to ratify said appointment; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that SECTION 1. The appointment of Brandon Martin, Andrea Naglich, Sol Sandoval Tafoya, and Callico Vargas to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission to serve three-year terms expiring on December 31, 2026, shall be and hereby is ratified. SECTION 2. The reappointment of Riya Singh to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission to serve a one-year term expiring on December 31, 2024, shall be and hereby is ratified. SECTION 3. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution to implement the appointment described herein. SECTION 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Joint City-County appointments to the Pueblo Human Relations Commission are made on an annual basis selecting individuals to serve terms that are vacant or expired. Resolutions to ratify the joint appointments are passed by each entity. BACKGROUND: There are five joint vacancies on the Pueblo Human Relations Commission due to term expirations. Five applications were received, including the youth appointment. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: N/A ALTERNATIVES: City Council in agreement with the County Commissioners could remove the Resolution from the Agenda, request that the recruitment process be extended in order to receive additional applications for consideration. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. ATTACHMENTS: None
