HomeMy WebLinkAbout10634ORDINANCE NO. 10634 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ACCEPTING A SUBGRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $20,000.00 FROM THE PUEBLO COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT ON BEHALF OF THE PUEBLO FOOD PROJECT, BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING $20,000.00 TO PROJECT NO. 2333, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR’S SIGNATURE OF THE GRANT AGREEMENT WHEREAS, a grant award was given by The Pueblo County Department of Public Health and Environment in the amount of $20,000.00, intended to partner with the Pueblo Food Project in the intended grant work; NOW; THEREFORE;. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. City Council authorizes the acceptance of $20,000.00 from The Pueblo County Department of Public Health and Environment to the City of Pueblo - Pueblo Food Project. The Grant Agreement Local Food Purchasing Assistance (“Agreement”) between the Pueblo Food Project and Colorado Department of Human Services, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved, and the Mayor’s signature thereon is ratified. SECTION 2. Project No. CI2333 is hereby created. The funds in the amount of $20,000.00 shall be accepted pursuant to the Agreement and are hereby budgeted and appropriated into Project No. CI2333. SECTION 3. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the transactions described herein. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Not applicable to this Ordinance. BACKGROUND: The Pueblo County Department of Public Health and Environment received funding to begin work on decreasing the consumption of sugary/sweet beverages in Pueblo County. In August and September 2022, the Pueblo Food Project assisted in grant writing and planning. The grant was awarded to PDPHE in July 2023. Pueblo Food Project’s agreed upon work on the grant will begin January 2024. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This $20,000.00 will be received for the stated purpose without any in-kind match on the part of the City. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable to this Ordinance. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable to this Ordinance. ALTERNATIVES: Not accept the donation and return the funds. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of Ordinance.
