HomeMy WebLinkAbout10605ORDINANCE NO. 10605 AN ORDINANCE RESCINDING RESOLUTION 15406, APPROVING AND ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $120,000 FROM THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES LOCAL FOOD PURCHASE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM ON BEHALF OF THE PUEBLO FOOD PROJECT, BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING $120,000 TO PROJECT NO. CI2328, AND RATIFYING THE MAYOR’S SIGNATURE OF THE GRANT AGREEMENT WHEREAS, a grant award was given by The Colorado Department of Human Services in the amount of $120,000.00, intended to support the Pueblo Food Project Community Pantry. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. City Council authorizes the acceptance of $120,000.00 from The Colorado Department of Agriculture to the City of Pueblo - Pueblo Food Project. The Grant Agreement Local Food Purchasing Assistance (“Agreement”) between the Pueblo Food Project and Colorado Department of Human Services, a copy of which is attached hereto, is hereby approved, and the Mayor’s signature thereon is ratified. SECTION 2. Project No. CI2328 is hereby created. The funds in the amount of $120,000 shall be accepted pursuant to the Agreement and are hereby budgeted and appropriated into Project No. CI2328. SECTION 3. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the transactions described herein. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council. CI2328, AND RATIFYING THE MAYOR’S SIGNATURE OF THE GRANT AGREEMENT SUMMARY: Attached is an Ordinance rescinding Resolution 15406 and approving and accepting a grant in the amount of $120,000.00 from Colorado Department of Human Services Local Food Purchase Assistance Program to provide funds to continue pantry assistance work by the Pueblo Food Project. This Ordinance budgets and appropriates the grant funds to Project No. CI2328 thereto and ratifies the Mayor’s signature of the Grant Agreement. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: On October 23, 2023, City Council by Resolution 15406 approved the acceptance of the $120,000 grant from the Colorado Department of Human Services Local Food Purchase Assistance Program. BACKGROUND: The Pueblo Food Project Community Pantry has been in use since 2020 resulting in over one million dollars has been spent on locally procured and produced food items. Pueblo Food Project has received more than 10 grants to support the work of the Community Pantry. After passage of Resolution 15406, the City determined the award and grant agreement needed to be adopted by ordinance rather than resolution. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This $120,000.00 will be received for the stated purpose without any in-kind match on the part of the City. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable to this Ordinance. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable to this Ordinance. ALTERNATIVES: Not accept the donation and return the funds. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Ordinance.
