HomeMy WebLinkAbout15399RESOLUTION NO. 15399 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2023 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,250 TO SPONSOR THE PARADE OF LIGHTS ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2023 IN DOWNTOWN PUEBLO BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $1,250 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2023 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Pueblo Downtown Association to sponsor the Parade of Lights on Saturday, November 25, 2023 in Downtown Pueblo. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. Gradisar VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Larry Atencio, Councilor SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2023 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO DOWNTOWN ASSOCIATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,250 TO SPONSOR THE PARADE OF LIGHTS ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2023 IN DOWNTOWN PUEBLO SUMMARY: Attached for consideration is a request for support of Pueblo Downtown Association in the amount of $1,250 to sponsor the Parade of Lights on Saturday, November 25, 2023 in Downtown Pueblo. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Council supported this event in 2022 and supported the Downtown Association's Holiday Lighting in 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2022. BACKGROUND: City Council Member Larry Atencio is requesting $1,250 to support the Pueblo Downtown Association on Saturday, November 25, 2023 in Downtown Pueblo. For the past 33 (thirty-three) years, the Pueblo Parade of Lights has signaled the beginning of the Holiday Season in Pueblo. This family-oriented event attracts more than 50,000 people from throughout Southern Colorado and hosts nearly 100 parade entries: from marching bands to theme floats. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $1,250 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2023 General Fund Budget to Pueblo Downtown Association. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: N/A ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose. RECOMMENDATION: This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Larry Atencio.
