A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2023 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO SPARK THE CHANGE COLORADO IN THE
AMOUNT OF $2,000 TO SPONSOR A SUICIDE MEMORY WALK
ON SEPTEMBER 30, 2023 AT LAKE MINNEQUA VETERAN’S
MEMORIAL PARK
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $2,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2023
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Spark the Change Colorado to sponsor a
Suicide Memory Walk on September 30, 2023 at Lake Minnequa Veteran’s Memorial Park.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of a Suicide Memory Walk at Lake
Minnequa Veteran’s Memorial Park on September 30, 2023 put on by the Mental
Wellness Task Force of Southern Colorado, a branch of Spark the Change Colorado, in
the amount of $2,000.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
No previous Council action
BACKGROUND:
City Council Member Regina Maestri is requesting $2,000 to support a Suicide Memory
Walk at Lake Minnequa Veteran’s Memorial Park on September 30, 2023 put on by the
Mental Wellness Task Force of Southern Colorado, a branch of Spark the Change
Colorado. The event is free to the public and participants are encouraged to get
sponsors to support their walk. Funds raised will support the Mental Wellness Task
Force of Southern Colorado focusing on mental health and suicide prevention
awareness.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $2,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account
in the 2023 General Fund Budget to the Spark the Change Colorado.
