HomeMy WebLinkAbout10535 ORDINANCE NO. 10535 AN ORDINANCE BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $201,869 TO PROJECT PS2203 FOR THE NURSE NAVIGATION PROGRAM BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Grant funds in the amount of $201,869.00 are hereby budgeted and appropriated into Project No. PS2203. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Ordinance and the attached Agreement to implement the policies and procedures described therein. SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council. Gradisar VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Barb Huber, Fire Chief SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $201,869 TO PROJECT PS2203 FOR THE NURSE NAVIGATION PROGRAM SUMMARY: This Ordinance budgets and appropriates grant funds in the amount of $201,869 for the nurse navigation program under the approved agreement between Access2Care LLC and the City of Pueblo. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Ordinance 10463, dated May 22, 2023, approved an agreement between the City of Pueblo and Access2Care LLC for the nurse navigation program. Ordinance 10150, dated March 28, 2022, approved an agreement between the City of Pueblo and Access2Care LLC for the nurse navigation program, established Project PS2203, and budgeted and appropriated $201,869 for the project. BACKGROUND: This is a 2-year pilot program grant that is through the Colorado Division of Homeland Security. It will help connect the community to nurse navigation services rather than utilizing 9-1-1 and emergency rooms. Willing callers will be sent to a nurse’s line after a thorough list of questions have identified an appropriate need. The long-term effect could be an improved use of connection to and use of medical resources as well as a reduction in 9-1-1 calls. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: There is no cost to the city. Staff time will be required for project management, as well as grant monitoring and reporting BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable. ALTERNATIVES: None.
