HomeMy WebLinkAbout10505ORDINANCE NO. 10505 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ACCEPTING A GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $20,000 FROM THE COLORADO CENTENNIAL FUND, A SUBSIDIARY OF THE CARING FOR COLORADO FOUNDATION, FOR THE PUEBLO FOOD PROJECT, RATIFYING THE MAYOR'S SIGNATURE OF THE GRANT AGREEMENT, CREATING PROJECT NO. CI2324, AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING $20,000 TO PROJECT NO. CI2324 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The Sperry S. and Ella Graber Packard Fund for Pueblo Grant Agreement (“Agreement”) between the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, for its Pueblo Food Project, and the Colorado Centennial Fund, a subsidiary of the Caring for Colorado Foundation, a copy of which is attached hereto, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is hereby approved. SECTION 2. The Mayor’s signature of the Agreement is hereby authorized and ratified on behalf of the City of Pueblo, and the City Clerk is authorized to affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3. Project No. CI2324 is hereby created. SECTION 4. Funds in the amount of $20,000.00 shall be accepted pursuant to the Agreement and budgeted and appropriated to Project No. CI2324. SECTION 5. Pursuant to the Agreement, the Colorado Centennial Fund may unilaterally modify payments under the Agreement. In the event the Colorado Centennial Fund increases the grant award, the additional funds may be accepted pursuant to this Ordinance and budgeted and appropriated into Project No. CI2324, where said funds shall only be expended and used for this project. Should the Colorado Centennial Fund require a total or partial refund of grant funds, the same may be returned to the grantor from Project No. CI2324. SECTION 6. The officers and staff of the City are hereby authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Ordinance and the attached Agreement to effectuate the transactions described therein. SECTION 7. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council. CI2324 SUMMARY: Attached is an Ordinance approving and accepting a grant in the amount of $20,000.00 from the Colorado Centennial Fund, a subsidiary of the Caring for Colorado Foundation, to provide funds to continue food systems work by the Pueblo Food Project. This Ordinance creates Project No.CI2324, budgets and appropriates the grant funds to Project No. CI2324, and ratifies the Mayor’s signature of the Grant Agreement. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Not applicable to the Ordinance. BACKGROUND: The Pueblo Food Project has received one previous grant from the Caring for Colorado Foundation to support the work of the Pueblo Food Project Fooducates Youth Council. This award will focus on expanding the cooking program, creating more cooking classes, food preservation classes, gardening classes, and nutrition education for families. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: There are no matching funds required for this grant. Upon passage of the Ordinance, the City of Pueblo will receive the entire $20,000.00 for the Pueblo Food Project. The total grant budget for Project No. CI2324 will become $20,000.00. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable to this Ordinance. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable to this Ordinance. ALTERNATIVES: If the proposed Ordinance is not approved, the Pueblo Food Project will not receive the grant funds. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Ordinance.
