HomeMy WebLinkAbout10504ORDINANCE NO. 10504 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ACCEPTING A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH COLORADO BLUEPRINT TO END HUNGER AND THEIR FISCAL SPONSOR, THE TRAILHEAD INSTITUTE, FOR A GRANT AWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF $53,625.00 ON BEHALF OF THE PUEBLO FOOD PROJECT, RATIFYING THE PRIOR SIGNATURE OF THE MAYOR TO SAID GRANT AGREEMENT, CREATING PROJECT NO. CI2323, AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING $53,625.00 INTO PROJECT NO. CI2323 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The Grant Agreement for Food Pantry Assistance dated May 24, 2023 (“Grant Agreement”) between the City of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, for its Pueblo Food Project, and the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger, administered by the Trailhead Institute, a copy of which is attached hereto, having been approved as to form by the City Attorney, is hereby approved. SECTION 2. The Mayor’s signature of the Grant Agreement is hereby authorized and ratified on behalf of the City of Pueblo, and the City Clerk is authorized to affix the seal of the City thereto and attest the same. SECTION 3. Project No. CI2323 is hereby created. SECTION 4. Funds in the amount of $53,625.00 shall be accepted pursuant to the Grant Agreement and budgeted and appropriated to Project No. CI2323. SECTION 5. The officers and staff of the City are hereby authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Ordinance and the attached Grant Agreement to effectuate the transactions described therein. SECTION 6. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council. Gradisar VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Laura Solano, Chief of Staff SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ACCEPTING A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH COLORADO BLUEPRINT TO END HUNGER AND THEIR FISCAL SPONSOR, THE TRAILHEAD INSTITUTE, FOR A GRANT AWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF $53,625.00 ON BEHALF OF THE PUEBLO FOOD PROJECT, RATIFYING THE PRIOR SIGNATURE OF THE MAYOR TO SAID GRANT AGREEMENT, CREATING PROJECT NO. CI2323, AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING $53,625.00 INTO PROJECT NO. CI2323 SUMMARY: Attached is an Ordinance approving and accepting a grant in the amount of $53,625.00 from Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger to provide funds to continue community food pantry work by the Pueblo Food Project. This Ordinance creates Project No. CI2323 and budgets and appropriates the grant funds to CI2323. Due to time restrictions associated with this grant, Mayor Gradisar signed the Grant Agreement on June 7, 2023. This Ordinance approves the Grant Agreement and ratifies the Mayor’s signature thereof. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: The City Council has accepted other grants from the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger for the community food pantry. BACKGROUND: The Pueblo Food Project has received several previous grants from the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger Food Pantry Assistance Program, totaling over $200,000.00 since 2020. This particular award will focus on buying protein products for the community food pantry. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: There are no matching funds required for this grant. Upon passage of the Ordinance, the City of Pueblo will receive the entire $53,625.00 on behalf of the Pueblo Food Project. The total grant budget for Project No. CI2323 will become $53,625.00. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable to this Ordinance. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable to this Ordinance. ALTERNATIVES: If the proposed Ordinance is not approved, the Pueblo Food Project will not receive the grant funds. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Ordinance.
