HomeMy WebLinkAbout10502ORDINANCE NO. 10502 AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING PROJECT WW2305, THE PRETREATMENT BUILDING PROJECT, TRANSFERRING $150,000 FROM WW9999 TO WW2305, BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $150,000, APPROVING AN AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES, PROJECT 23-046 IN THE AMOUNT OF $129,406.00 BETWEEN THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A COLORADO MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND SHORT ELLIOTT HENDRICKSON, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAME WHEREAS, proposals for Project No. 23-046, Design of Future Wastewater Pretreatment Building have been received and examined; and, WHEREAS, the proposal of Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc., was determined to be the most advantageous to the City of Pueblo, and in the best interest of the City of Pueblo, based on the evaluation factors set forth in the Request for Proposals; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Project WW2305, Design and Construct Wastewater Pretreatment Building, is hereby established. SECTION 2. Funds in the amount of $150,000.00 are hereby transferred from account Project WW9999 into account Project WW2305, Design and Construct Pretreatment Building, and budgeted and appropriated for project WW2305. SECTION 3. The City Council authorizes Project No. 23-046 Design of Future Wastewater Treatment Building to be performed, and the contract for said services is hereby awarded to Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc., in the amount of $129,406.00. SECTION 4. The Mayor is hereby authorized to execute said Agreement on behalf of Pueblo, a Municipal Corporation, and the City Clerk shall affix the seal of the City thereto and attest same. SECTION 5. The officers of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Ordinance and the Agreement approved to implement the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 6. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council. Gradisar VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Andrew Hayes, Public Works Director SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING PROJECT WW2305, THE PRETREATMENT BUILDING PROJECT, TRANSFERRING $150,000 FROM WW9999 TO WW2305, BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $150,000, APPROVING AN AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING AND ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES, PROJECT 23-046 IN THE AMOUNT OF $129,406.00 BETWEEN THE CITY OF PUEBLO, A COLORADO MUNICIPAL CORPORATION, AND SHORT ELLIOTT HENDRICKSON, INC., AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAME SUMMARY: This Ordinance creates account Project WW2305 for the Pretreatment Building Project, transfers funds in the amount of $150,000.00 from account Project WW9999 to WW2305- Pretreatment Building Project, budgets and appropriates funds totaling $150,000.00 for the Project, and approves an agreement for Professional Engineering and Architectural Services. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None BACKGROUND: The project goal consists of renovating the existing Wastewater Headworks Building for it to be adapted to the Wastewater Pretreatment Building. The project renovation includes one (1) management office space, work area for five cubicles, a cleaning and calibration work area, one (1) break room, one (1) unisex ADA accessible restroom, a conference room, and a vehicle bay that accommodates two (2) vehicles. In addition, the building requires upgrade/redesign of the mechanical and electrical systems. The Wastewater Headworks Building was constructed in 1937 and comprises approximately 3,300 sq. ft. (excluding the basement). The building is constructed of brick and concrete and was utilized as the original headworks building for the old plant. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The funds in the amount of $150,000.00 are being transferred from Project WW9999 to WW2305. Funds in the amount of $150,000.00 shall be budgeted and appropriated for Project 23- 046 from account WW2305. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None. ALTERNATIVES: Currently, there are no alternatives for completing the improvements without the funding from WW9999 and the design by Short Elliott Hendrickson, Inc.
