HomeMy WebLinkAbout15305RESOLUTION NO. 15305 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2023 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO SOUTHEASTERN COLORADO HERITAGE CENTER IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,000 TO SPONSOR THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' EXHIBIT REVITIZATION & ARCHIVE BUILDING BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $6,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2023 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Southeastern Colorado Heritage Center in the amount of $6,000 to sponsor the Indigenous Peoples' Exhibit Revitization & Archive Building. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. Gradisar VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Vicente Martinez Ortega, Councilor Martinez SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2023 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO SOUTHEASTERN COLORADO HERITAGE CENTER IN THE AMOUNT OF $6,000 TO SPONSOR THE INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' EXHIBIT REVITIZATION & ARCHIVE BUILDING SUMMARY: Attached for consideration is a request for support of the Southeastern Colorado Heritage Center in the amount of $6,000 to sponsor the Indigenous Peoples' Exhibit Revitization & Archive Building. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: The museum was founded in 1997 by collaborative effort of 5 Heritage Organizations. It opened to the public in 2002 with exhibit focus ranging “from the Paleozoic to the Cold War”, Cultural Displays with hundreds of authentic artifacts. The mission of the Heritage Center is to preserve, promote, and interpret the heritage of Southeastern Colorado and the plurality of its people. This request for funding is for the Indigenous People’s Exhibit Revitalization and will cover costs such as updated signage, interactive digital displays for young audiences, updated floor, lighting, and archive space. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $6,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2023 General Fund Budget to Southeastern Colorado Heritage Center. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: N/A ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
