A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL
CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2023 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO
PUEBLO FRIENDS OF THE ARKANSAS RIVER IN THE AMOUNT OF $250 TO
SPONSOR THE SUMMER SOLSTICE FESTIVAL AND LANTERN PARADE ON
JUNE 17, 2023 AT 4 PM AT RUNYON LAKE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $250 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2023
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Pueblo Friends of the Arkansas River to
sponsor the Summer Solstice Festival and Lantern Parade on June 17, 2023, at 4 pm at
Runyon Lake.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of this Resolution to effectuate the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
A Resolution authorizing payment from the council contingencies account in the 2023
general fund budget to Pueblo Friends of the Arkansas River in the amount of $250 to
sponsor the Summer Solstice Festival and Lantern Parade on June 17, 2023 at 4 pm at
Runyon Lake.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Council supported PFAR's solstice events in 2022.
BACKGROUND:
Pueblo Friends of the Arkansas River, PFAR, is a volunteer-run, non-profit 501(c)3
organization. Their mission and vision is “to enhance and maintain the beauty,
accessibility, and integrity of the Arkansas River corridor in Pueblo.”
The event features live music, over 35 artisan booths, a beer garden, local educational
booths, 6-8 food trucks, and an enchanting Lantern Parade around the lake in the
evening led by the Pueblo Cruisers on their illuminated bikes. Last year's event drew at
least 900 people during the event and they expect the same this year.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $250 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in
the 2023 General Fund Budget to Pueblo Friends of the Arkansas River.
BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
None.
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
None.
ALTERNATIVES:
City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
RECOMMENDATION:
This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Sarah Martinez.
