HomeMy WebLinkAbout15214RESOLUTION NO. 15214 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2023 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO SOUTHERN COLORADO EQUALITY ALLIANCE IN THE AMOUNT OF $750 TO SPONSOR THE PUEBLO PRIDE EVENT AT MINERAL PALACE PARK ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 20, 2023 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $750 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2023 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Southern Colorado Equality Alliance to sponsor the Pueblo Pride event at Mineral Palace Park on Sunday, August 20, 2023. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. Gradisar VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Sarah Martinez, Councilor SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2023 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO SOUTHERN COLORADO EQUALITY ALLIANCE IN THE AMOUNT OF $750 TO SPONSOR THE PUEBLO PRIDE EVENT AT MINERAL PALACE PARK ON SUNDAY, AUGUST 20, 2023 SUMMARY: Attached for consideration is a request for support of the Southern Colorado Equality Alliance in the amount of $750 to sponsor the Pueblo Pride event at Mineral Palace Park on Sunday, August 20, 2023. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Council supported this event for $1,500 in 2022 and $687.40 in 2021. BACKGROUND: City Council Member Sarah Martinez is requesting $750 to sponsor the 2023 Pueblo Pride event. The event is being held on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Mineral Palace Park. SCEA strives to educate our community, provide support for our LGBTQ family, and move further away from the dampened darkness of the closet to the bright sunlight and warmth of equality for all beings. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $750 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2023 General Fund Budget to Southern Colorado Equality Alliance. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this purpose.
