PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: City Council supported the Pueblo Child Advocacy Center's annual Gala with $1,200 in 2022. BACKGROUND: In an effort to bring an end to the child abuse epidemic, Pueblo Child Advocacy Center (PCAC) is organizing a campaign during the month of April in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month in lieu of our annual Gala. This is an ongoing initiative we hope continues to raise awareness about child abuse and prevention, while also reminding the community about how we serve the most vulnerable. We are proud of what we have accomplished since our inception in 1986 and look forward to a brighter future for our children with community partners like YOU. PCAC offers high-quality care so abused children can thrive. The Center is a homelike, child-friendly environment where a coordinated team of experts in forensic interviewing, medical, law enforcement, victim advocacy, mental health, child protective services, and other disciplines come together to empower children and strengthen families while holding offenders accountable. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $1,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2023 General Fund Budget to the Pueblo Child Advocacy Center.
