Gradisar VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Heather Graham, President SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2023 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF DIOCESE OF PUEBLO IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500 TO SPONSOR THE ESPIRITU DINNER ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2023 AT THE PUEBLO CONVENTION CENTER SUMMARY: Attached for consideration is a request for support of Catholic Charities in the amount of $1,500 to sponsor the Espiritu Dinner on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Pueblo Convention Center. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Council sponsored a Catholic Charities fundraiser in 2019 for $1,000. BACKGROUND: Catholic Charities of Southern Colorado presents a night of inspiring music at their annual fundraising event, "Espiritu: Music that Moves the Soul"! This musical event will be held at the Pueblo Convention Center Friday, February 10, 2023. Cocktail hour will start at 6:00 PM. Program and Dinner will follow at 7:00 PM with special musical performances by Most Reverend Stephen Berg Bishop of Pueblo, Reverend Carl Wertin, and Reverend Edmundo Valera. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $1,500 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2023 General Fund Budget to Catholic Charities of Diocese of Pueblo. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: N/A STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: N/A ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this event. Council Contingencies RESOLUTION NO. 15133 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2023 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO CATHOLIC CHARITIES OF DIOCESE OF PUEBLO IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500 TO SPONSOR THE ESPIRITU DINNER ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2023 AT THE PUEBLO CONVENTION CENTER BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $1,500 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2023 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Catholic Charities of Diocese of Pueblo to sponsor Espiritu on Friday, February 10, 2023 at the Pueblo Convention Center. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.
