CI2220, TRANSFERRING $300,000 FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT 101-20502-51030 AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING $300,000 FOR SAID PROJECT BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The BearCat Project, CI2220, is hereby established. SECTION 2. Funds in the amount of $300,000 are hereby transferred from the Police Department police service wages account 101-20502-51030 into Project No. CI2220, and budgeted and appropriated for said Project. SECTION 3. The officers and the staff of the City are authorized and directed to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Ordinance to implement the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council. CI2220, TRANSFERRING $300,000 FROM THE POLICE DEPARTMENT ACCOUNT 101-20502-51030 AND BUDGETING AND APPROPRIATING $300,000 FOR SAID PROJECT SUMMARY: This Ordinance establishes Project No. CI2220, transfers $300,000 from the Police Department police service wages account 101-20502-51030 and budgets and appropriates $300,000 for the BearCat Project. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: This Ordinance establishes the BearCat Project, CI2220, transfers funds in the amount of $300,000 from the Police Department police service wages account 101-20502- 51030 and budget and appropriates said funds. This project will allow for the purchase of a ballistic protective vehicle for SWAT Operations to replace the use of the MRAP. This replacement is required due to changes in the 10-33 program which do not allow the use of the MRAP for the majority of high-risk arrest warrant / search warrant service or barricaded gunmen. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: By transferring the funds from the Police Department’s police service wages account 101-20502-51030 into Project CI2220, the project expenses can be paid, if necessary, into 2023. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None. ALTERNATIVES: Currently, there are no alternatives for completing the Project without the funding from the Police Department. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of this Ordinance. ATTACHMENTS: None
