HomeMy WebLinkAbout15095 RESOLUTION NO. 15095 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2022 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO PUEBLO FRIENDS OF THE ARKANSAS RIVER IN THE AMOUNT OF $500 TO SPONSOR THE WINTER SOLSTICE LANTERN PARADE ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 17 FROM 2 - 7 PM AT THE PILLAR PARK, THE LEVEE TRAIL, AND THE NEW PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $500 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2022 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to the Pueblo Friends of the Arkansas River for sponsorship of the Winter Solstice Lantern Parade on the Arkansas River. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution to implement the transaction described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: Council sponsored the Summer Solstice Celebration in June of this year. BACKGROUND: City Council Member Lori Winner is requesting $500 from the City Council Contingencies account to support the Pueblo Frends of the Arkansas River’s event called Winter Solstice Lantern Parade on Saturday, December 17 from 2 - 7 pm at the Pillar Park, the Levee Trail, and the new pedestrian bridge. This free event invites people to visit the outdoor area and come make lanterns at various booths by local artists and local organizations for the Winter Solstice Lantern Parade that evening 5:30 - 6:30 pm. We will have 3-4 Food Trucks, live music, and other activities throughout the day. Family friendly event. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $500 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2022 General Fund Budget to the Pueblo Friends of the Arkansas River. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this request.
