A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE
COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2022 GENERAL
FUND BUDGET TO HISTORIC PUEBLO, INC. IN THE AMOUNT
OF $1,000 TO SUPPORT THE DAMON DAYS FUNDRAISER ON
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2022, AT 5:30 PM
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that
SECTION 1.
Payment in the amount of $1,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2022
General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Historic Pueblo, Inc. for a table at the Damon
Days fundraiser.
SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent
with the intent of this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval.

SUMMARY:
Attached for consideration is a request for support of the Damon Days fundraiser which
will take place on Friday, October 28, 2022.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
None.
BACKGROUND:
City Council President Heather Graham is requesting $1,000 to sponsor a table at the
Damon Days banquet and dance. Besides celebrating and claiming Damon Runyon as
Pueblo’s son, these events will bring awareness to the academic areas of journalism,
history and English. The net proceeds raised will be used for scholarships in the
previous mentioned areas of study at Colorado State University Pueblo and Pueblo
Community College.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $1,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account
in the 2022 General Fund Budget to Historic Pueblo, Inc.

Damon Days
Celebrating the life of Damon Runyon, one of Colorado's most successful and creative individuals
Sponsor Fact Sheet
Purpose: To celebrate the life of Damon Runyon, who spent his early years in Pueblo, Colorado.
This will be an opportunity for the community and visitors to explore the life of Mr. Runyon
through:
• readings of his work,
• attending a baseball event at Runyon Field,
• visiting a museum exhibit sharing Runyon's achievements and connection to Pueblo
• honing writing skills during a daylong workshop with opportunities for all ages
• viewing a film or musical Runyon wrote or produced.
• watching the Pueblo produced 1981 documentary, "Damon Runyon's Pueblo."
Dates: All events will be held September/October 2022. A banquet and dance will be held on
Friday, October 28, 2022 at Pueblo Union Depot. The showing of "Damon Runyon's Pueblo" will
be show at the Sangre de Cristo Art Center, Wednesday, October 5 and we're pleased to be
expanding the Damon Home Run Derby to additional ages on Sunday, October 9 at Runyon Field.

$5,000 -Two tables of eight for the October 28, 2022 event, plus exclusive VIP seating for all other
ticketed events. Sponsor logo will be identified on all invitations, programs, posters and advertising.
$2,500 - One table of eight for the October 28, 2022 event, plus exclusive VIP seating for all other
ticketed events. Sponsor logo will be identified on invitations, programs and advertising.
$1,000—One table of eight for the October 28, 2022 event, plus four tickets to all other ticketed
events. Sponsor will be identified on invitations and programs.
$500- Four tickets to the dinner plus four tickets to all other ticketed events
$250-Two tickets to the dinner and two tickets to all other ticketed events

$ 500 - Underwrite "Damon Runyon's Pueblo," docudrama on October 5; includes 10 tickets to the
showing and 2 tickets to the Oct. 28 dinner/dance banquet.
$ 250 - Underwrite the writing workshop marathon on Saturday, October 8.
$ 500 - Underwrite the Damon Runyon exhibit at the Pueblo Heritage Museum; opening reception
October 7.
