RICHARDS BROADCAST ROOM” WHEREAS, there is no one more deserving than Scott Richards to have a Broadcast Room named in his honor and it is fitting that it be placed in the City Council Chambers to which he devoted so much time; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that SECTION 1. The City Council Chambers broadcast room shall be and hereby is renamed as “Scott A. Richards Broadcast Room.” SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. INTRODUCED: September 26, 2022 BY: Vicente Martinez Ortega MEMBER OF CITY COUNCIL APPROVED: PRESIDENT OF CITY COUNCIL ATTESTED BY: CITY CLERK City Clerk's Office Item # Q1 Background Paper for Proposed Resolution COUNCIL MEETING DATE: September 26, 2022 TO: President Heather Graham and Members of City Council CC: Mayor Nicholas A. Gradisar VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Dennis Flores, Representative at Large SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION NAMING THE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS BROADCAST ROOM AS THE “SCOTT A. RICHARDS BROADCAST ROOM” SUMMARY: Attached is a resolution which names the existing broadcast room within City Council Chambers as the “Scott A. Richards Broadcast Room.” PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: Scott served the Pueblo Community as a teacher at PCC, and CSU Pueblo, but is best known for his work as a television producer. In this role, Scott was responsible for creating the media department at PCC and brought numerous important local events to people's TVs. From the Bell Game to City Council meetings to high school and college graduations as well as countless other events. If it was happening in Pueblo and there were cameras involved, odds are good that Scott and his team of hard-working individuals from PCC were there recording that event. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The cost to produce name signage is $26.50 and will be paid out of the Council Contingencies Fund. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to name the room. RECOMMENDATION: This Resolution is at the request of Council Member Dennis Flores.
