HomeMy WebLinkAbout14983 RESOLUTION NO. 14983 A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF ANDRA AHRENS TO THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF WASTEWATER WHEREAS, Mayor Nicholas A. Gradisar has requested confirmation by the City Council of his appointment of Andra Ahrens to the vacant position of Director of Wastewater; and WHEREAS, Ms. Ahrens meets and surpasses the qualifications for appointment as the Director of Wastewater based upon her education, training and experience; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1: The appointment by the Mayor of Andra Ahrens as Director of Wastewater shall be and hereby is confirmed by the City Council. SECTION 2: The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution which are necessary or appropriate to implement the appointment described herein. SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Gradisar SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF ANDRA AHRENS TO THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF WASTEWATER SUMMARY: After announcing vacancy and interviewing candidates, the Mayor has appointed Andra Ahrens to the vacant position of Director of Wastewater and requests confirmation of said appointment by the City Council. Such appointment is based on Ms. Ahrens education, training, experience and fitness for the position. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: The Director of Wastewater position became vacant in February 2022 with the retirement of Nancy Keller and has been filled on an interim basis by Ms. Ahrens since that time. The Mayor has reviewed the qualifications of Ms. Ahrens, who has served the city as the Regulatory Compliance Specialist since February 2017. Ms. Ahrens has worked in the Wastewater profession since 2006. She was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science from Metropolitan State University of Colorado in 2005. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The salary and benefits of the Director of Wastewater have been budgeted and appropriated within the 2022 budget. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable to this Resolution. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable to this Resolution. ALTERNATIVES: Failure to confirm the appointment of a new Director of Wastewater will result in that position remaining vacant. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution.
