HomeMy WebLinkAbout14951 RESOLUTION NO. 14951 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2022 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO UNITED WAY - PUEBLO COUNTY IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500 TO SUPPORT THE SOUTHERN COLORADO YOUTH GO PLATFORM BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $2,500 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2022 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to United Way of Pueblo County in support of the SOCOYOGO Platform. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: City Council President Heather Graham is requesting $2,500 to support the Southern Colorado Youth Go (SoCoYoGo) platform that incentivizes young people to connect with Pueblo prosocial opportunities, to prevent young people from using drugs and alcohol. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $2,500 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2022 General Fund Budget to the United Way of Pueblo County. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this association. RECOMMENDATION: This Resolution is at the request of Council President Heather Graham. Communities That Care (CTC), a community-driven coalition that uses evidence-based structures and strategies to prevent youth substance use, is Kevin Cano Pueblo YMCA hoping to address this community problem. We know there are a lot of opportunities Director of Marketing and resources in the community and created an online platform to connect young people to them. In 2022, the Communities That Care coalition developed the Southern Kelsey Moore CO Youth Detention Colorado Youth Go (SoCoYoGo) platform that incentivizes young people to connect with Continuum Coordinator Pueblo prosocial opportunities, to prevent young people from using drugs and alcohol. With the support of over 20 community partnering agencies, the team launched the Tanya Simental United Way Mentoring and free, innovative website for all Pueblo County youth ages 13-18 that encourages and PMC Coordinator rewards positive behavior with free items from local businesses.
