Gradisar has requested confirmation by the City Council of his appointment of Catherine Allen to the Housing Authority of the City of Pueblo – Public Resident to complete a five-year term expiring July 1, 2027; NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The following individual is hereby appointed to the Housing Authority of the City of Pueblo Board of Directors – Public Housing Resident to complete a five-year term expiring July 1, 2027. ___Catherine Allen__ SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution to implement the appointment described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon final passage. Gradisar, Mayor VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Alyssa Parga, Secretary to the Mayor SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE MAYOR OF A CATHERINE ALLEN TO THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF PUEBLO BOARD OF DIRECTORS – PUBLIC HOUSING RESIDENT SUMMARY: This Resolution confirms the appointment by the Mayor of a member to the Housing Authority of the City of Pueblo Board of Directors to complete a five-year term expiring July 1, 2027. Pursuant to C.R.S. § 29-4-205 (3.5) states in part that one member must a resident of public housing. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: City Council has made appointments to the Housing Authority of the City of Pueblo Board of Directors selecting individuals to serve terms which expire at the end of a particular calendar year. Amended City Charter Section 4-4 (i) now requires that such appointments be made by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by City Council. BACKGROUND: Due to the removal Jack Pietrzak in 2020 there is one spot available for a community member to serve a five-year term expiring July 1, 2027 on the Housing Authority of the City of Pueblo Board of Directors. Following an announcement on the City’s webpage, social media, and in the Pueblo Chieftain seeking volunteers to serve on this committee, one application was received which qualified as a public housing resident. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: None STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Luanne Beard with Housing has confirmed that Ms. Allen qualifies for the Public Resident vacancy. ALTERNATIVES: Remove from agenda and re-advertise for additional applications. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution ATTACHMENTS: Proposed Resolution Application
