HomeMy WebLinkAbout14898 RESOLUTION NO. 14898 A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE MAYOR OF MODESTO CARTAGENA TO THE LIQUOR AND BEER LICENSING BOARD WHEREAS, Mayor Nicholas A. Gradisar has requested confirmation by the City Council of his appointment of Modesto Cartagena to serve on the Liquor and Beer Licensing Board; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. The appointment by the Mayor of the following individual to the Liquor and Beer Licensing Board to complete a four-year term expiring august 1, 2024 shall be and is hereby confirmed by the City Council: ____Modesto Cartagena____ SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution to implement the appointments described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council. Gradisar, Mayor VIA: Marisa Stoller, City Clerk FROM: Alyssa Parga, Secretary to the Mayor SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE MAYOR OF MODESTO CARTAGENA TO THE LIQUOR AND BEER LICENSING BOARD SUMMARY: This Resolution appoints a member to complete a four-year term expiring on August 1, 2024 on the Liquor and Beer Licensing Board. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: City Council has made appointments to the Pueblo Liquor and Beer Licensing Board selecting individuals to serve terms which expire at the end during a calendar year. Amended City Charter Section 4-4 (i) now requires that such appointments be made by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by City Council. BACKGROUND: Due to the resignation of Jana Schaffer, there is one spot available to complete a four-year term expiring August 1, 2024 on the Liquor and Beer Licensing Board. Following advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain, and an announcement on the City’s webpage and social media seeking volunteers to serve on this committee, applications were received from Modesto Cartagena and Anthony Nunez. After review of the applications and an interview process, Mayor Gradisar has appointed Modesto Cartagena. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Liquor and Beer Licensing Board Members receive as compensation $25.00 for each regular or special meeting actually attended. The Chairman of the Board receives as compensation the sum of $50.00 per month for each month of service as Chairman. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: None. ALTERNATIVES: Remove from agenda and re-advertise for additional applications. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution. ATTACHMENTS: Proposed Resolution Application
