RESOLUTION NO. 14897
A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE
MAYOR OF ALVIN RIVERA TO THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS
WHEREAS, Mayor Nicholas A. Gradisar has requested confirmation by the City Council of his
appointment of Alvin Rivera to serve on the Board of Elections; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
The appointment by the Mayor of the following individual to the Board of Elections to serve
a four-year term expiring June 1, 2026 shall be and is hereby confirmed by the City Council:

SECTION 2.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with
this Resolution to implement the appointments described herein.
SECTION 3.
This Resolution shall become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City
Council.

SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE MAYOR OF ALVIN
RIVERA TO THE BOARD OF ELECTIONS
SUMMARY:
This Resolution appoints a member to serve a four-year term expiring on June 1, 2026 on the
Board of Elections.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
City Council has made appointments to the Board of Elections to serve terms which expire during
a calendar year. Amended City Charter Section 4-4 (i) now requires that such appointments be
made by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by City Council.
BACKGROUND:
Due to the term expiration of Incumbent Alvin Rivera, there is one appointment available to serve
a four-year term expiring June 1, 2026 on the Board of Elections.
Following advertisements published in the Pueblo Chieftain, and an announcement on the City’s
webpage and social media seeking volunteers to serve on this committee, applications were
received from Sandra Sherrer and Alvin Rivera.
Applications were reviewed by Mayor Gradisar who selected to reappoint Alvin Rivera.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
This a volunteer committee and members serve without compensation.
STAKEHOLDER PROCESS:
None.
ALTERNATIVES:
Remove from agenda and re-advertise for additional applications.
RECOMMENDATION:
Approval of the Resolution.
