HomeMy WebLinkAbout14822 RESOLUTION NO. 14822 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2022 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO THE PUEBLO CONSERVANCY DISTRICT, A COLORADO NONPROFIT CORPORATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $500 TO SPONSOR THE SUMMER SOLSTICE ON THE ARKANSAS RIVER CELEBRATION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $500 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2022 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to the Pueblo Conservancy District for sponsorship of the Summer Solstice on the Arkansas River. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution to implement the transaction described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: City Council Member Lori Winner is requesting $500 from the City Council Contingencies account to support the Pueblo Frends of the Arkansas River’s event called Summer Solstice on the Arkansas River on Saturday, June 18, 2022. This event will have a variety of organizations under tents promoting recreation on the trail and in the water, ways to stay safe on the trail and in the water, education about the importance of water and nature. Booths will be selling art and crafts and food trucks, music and late afternoon beer and wine. The event is free to the public. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $500 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2022 General Fund Budget to the Pueblo Conservancy District. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this request. RECOMMENDATION: This Resolution is at the request of City Council Member Lori Winner. BUT we have costs to cover, so would your business/organization consider being a sponsor? The three levels are $500, $250, and $100. Benefits to you: $500 level includes hanging your large banner on the levee trail fence, a prime space for a double tent to promote your business or sell a product, your name on posters, brochures, and the Friends Facebook page. Plus some free beer tickets! $250 level includeshanging your banner on the levee trail fence, space for your tent, name on posters, brochures, and Facebook. $100 level includes a space for your tent, name promoted on Facebook.
