HomeMy WebLinkAbout14821 RESOLUTION NO. 14821 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A TRANSFER OF FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS ($1,600) FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2022 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO THE PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT FOR SPONSORSHIP OF A MEMORIAL BENCH IN MEMORY OF RENEE FRANCISCA DOMINGUEZ BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Funds in the amount of $1,600 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2022 General Fund Budget are hereby authorized to be transferred to the Parks & Recreation Department for the sponsorship of a memorial bench in memory of domestic violence victim Renee Francisca Dominguez. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. Dominguez. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: City Council President Heather Graham is requesting that $1,600 be transferred from Council’s Contingency Account for the sponsorship of a memorial bench in memory of Renee Francisca Dominguez to be placed in City Park. Ms. Dominguez lost her life in a domestic violence incident on January 14, 2022. The policy for memorial opportunities on City property was adopted by City Council on January 13, 2014, per Ordinance 8694, which specifically identifies a memorial park bench program for park properties. The style of bench is pre-determined to be consistent with park amenities and will include a plaque to be placed on the bench. The Parks & Recreation Department is responsible for preparation and installation of the memorial bench. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $1,600 would be transferred from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2022 General Fund Budget to the Parks & Recreation Department. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to approve this expenditure. RECOMMENDATION: This Resolution is at the request of City Council President Heather Graham.
