HomeMy WebLinkAbout14750RESOLUTION NO. 14750 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2021 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO THE ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF PUEBLO, INC., A COLORADO NONPROFIT CORPORATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($1,000) TO SPONSOR THE 2021 HOLIDAY FASHION PREVIEW BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $1,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2021 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to Assistance League Pueblo to sponsor the 2021 Holiday Fashion Preview being held on December 4, 2021. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: No previous action. BACKGROUND: Council Member Mark Aliff is requesting $1,000 to sponsor the 2021 Holiday Fashion Preview. Since 1988, the Assistance League Pueblo Holiday Fashion Preview has been nd held on the first Saturday of December. December 4, 2021 will mark the 32 year of this event and will be held at the Pueblo Convention Center. The event averages 700 attendees enjoying live entertainment, silent auction, holiday gift boutique, student parade and professional style show by Dillard’s and the Pueblo Mall. This fundraiser is a major source of funding for Operation School Bell which offers new school clothes, hygiene kits and books to elementary and middle school children in need within Pueblo City and Pueblo County school districts. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $1,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2021 General Fund Budget to Assistance League Pueblo. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to authorize funding for this event. Call (719) 508-0848 for details Beginning as far back as December 1988 the first Saturday in December has been designated for the Assistant League of Pueblo's Holiday Fashion Preview, our largest annual fundraiser. This year we will be celebrating our 32nd year on December 4th, 2021 at the Pueblo Convention Center. This major holiday event attracts about 700 attendees all helping to support Operation School Bell. The event includes live entertainment, silent auction items, a unique holiday gift boutique, a student parade singing the Operation School Bell song and a professional style show by Dillard's & Pueblo Mall. The emcee for the event is local legend Craig Eliot, former KOAA-TV newscaster. It is just a wonderfully fun event for anyone wanting to support children in need within the Pueblo community (city and county). This fundraiser is one of the major sources of funding for Operation School Bell; which offers new school clothes, hygiene kits and books to elementary and middle school children in need within Pueblo City and Pueblo County school districts. We are making a positive impact on the Pueblo community one child at a time through Operation School Bell. All proceeds stay within . the Pueblo community.
