HomeMy WebLinkAbout14711 RESOLUTION NO. 14711 A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF GREG PEDROZA TO THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF AVIATION WHEREAS, Mayor Nicholas A. Gradisar has requested confirmation by the City Council of his appointment of Greg Pedroza to the vacant position of Director of Aviation; and WHEREAS, Mr. Pedroza meets and surpasses the qualifications for appointment as the Director of Aviation based upon his education, training, and experience; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1: The appointment by the Mayor of Greg Pedroza as Director of Aviation shall be and hereby is confirmed. SECTION 2: The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with this Resolution which are necessary or appropriate to implement the appointment described herein. SECTION 3: This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage and approval. Gradisar SUBJECT: A RESOLUTION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF GREG PEDROZA TO THE POSITION OF DIRECTOR OF AVIATION SUMMARY: The Mayor has appointed Greg Pedroza to the vacant position of Director of Aviation and requests confirmation of said appointment by the City Council. Such appointment is based on Mr. Pedroza’s education, training, experience, and fitness for the position. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: The former Aviation Director, Ian Turner resigned from the position of Director of Aviation effective August 26, 2019. Mayor Gradisar appointed Mr. Pedroza Interim Director of Aviation immediately following this resignation and he has been serving in this capacity ever since. Mr. Pedroza has held the positions of Operations and Maintenance Specialist (2011- 2016) and Operations and Maintenance Supervisor (2016-2019) for the Pueblo Memorial Airport. He holds an Associates in Science Degree from Pueblo Community College and is currently enrolled in curriculum for a bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Business Administration. Greg is the former President of the East Side Child Care Board of Directors, he is a current member of the Pueblo Area Council of Governments Transportation Advisory Committee and was recently awarded the 2021 Aviation Professional of the Year by the Colorado Department of Transportation – Division of Aeronautics. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The salary and benefits of the Director of Aviation have been budgeted and appropriated within the 2021 budget. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not applicable to this Resolution. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not applicable to this Resolution. ALTERNATIVES: Failure to confirm the appointment of the Director of Aviation vacancy will result in that position remaining vacant. RECOMMENDATION: Approval of the Resolution.
