HomeMy WebLinkAbout14638 RESOLUTION NO. 14638 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PAYMENT FROM THE COUNCIL CONTINGENCIES ACCOUNT IN THE 2021 GENERAL FUND BUDGET TO THE HARP FOUNDATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $9,000 TO SUPPORT THE ROLLIN’ ON THE RIVERWALK 4TH OF JULY EVENT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that: SECTION 1. Payment in the amount of $9,000 from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2021 General Fund Budget is authorized to be paid to the HARP Foundation to support th the Rollin’ on the Riverwalk 4 of July event. SECTION 2. The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts consistent with the intent of this Resolution to implement the policies and procedures described herein. SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective upon passage and approval. The event will host a free community fireworks show to provide families and friends an opportunity to come together and celebrate the holiday in a safe way. Fireworks will be launched from the Main Street parking garage at 9:30pm and run for about 20-22 minutes. PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION: None. BACKGROUND: City Council Member Mark Aliff is requesting $9,000 to support a modified Rollin' on the Riverwalk 4th of July event on Sunday, July 4, 2021. Alan Hamel Avenue and Main Street will be closed to assure plenty of open space for people to watch the free fireworks. On- site signage will remind spectators to follow the current guidelines such as properly distance, sit with their group, and bring their own chair. This will also support the business community by advertising to the public to support the Downtown restaurants businesses on the July 4th weekend. Information will be sent to the business owners so they and can plan for weekend specials and perhaps to-go dinners, as there will be no food vendors on site. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: Funds in the amount of $9,000 would be paid from the Council Contingencies Account in the 2021 General Fund Budget to the HARP Foundation. BOARD/COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: Not Applicable. STAKEHOLDER PROCESS: Not Applicable. ALTERNATIVES: City Council could choose not to pay for the sponsorship.
