AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING PROJECT
NO. CI2114 – FIRE STATION LAND PURCHASE PROJECT
AND TRANSFERRING ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($100,000) FROM THE UNAPPROPRIATED
FUND BALANCE OF THE GENERAL FUND TO PROJECT
NO. CI2114 FOR PURPOSES OF PURCHASING
UNIMPROVED LAND LOCATED ON E. 4TH STREET FOR
A NEW FIRE STATION
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PUEBLO, that:
SECTION 1.
Project Number CI2114 – Fire Station Land Purchase Project is hereby
established.
SECTION 2.
Funds in the amount of $100,000 are hereby authorized to be transferred from the
unappropriated Fund Balance of the General Fund into Project No. CI2114.
SECTION 3.
The officers and staff of the City are authorized to perform any and all acts
consistent with this Ordinance to implement the policies and procedures described herein.
SECTION 4.
Savings Clause: If the City Council decides to accept the assignment of the
contract to purchase the “Dorsch” parcel, the closing of that purchase transaction is
scheduled to close on or about June 17, 2021. The immediate enactment of this
Ordinance is necessary in order to preserve and protect the health, safety and welfare of
the residents of the City. Pursuant to Sec. 3-20 of the City Charter, this Ordinance shall
become effective on the date of final action by the Mayor and City Council.

SUMMARY:
This Ordinance establishes Project No. CI2114 and authorizes the transfer of $100,000 from the
unappropriated Fund Balance of the General Fund to said project for purposes of purchasing

PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
Not applicable to this Ordinance.
BACKGROUND:
Many of the City’s fire stations are operating beyond their projected useful service dates and are
in dire need of repair. Rather than continuing to repair obsolete buildings, it is more financially
prudent to construct a new fire station to be located in the City’s eastside neighborhood.
The Mayor and City staff are recommending that the City acquire 2 parcels of land located on E.

FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
Funds in the amount of $100,000 shall be transferred from the unappropriated fund balance of
the general fund into Project No. CI2114.
