SUMMARY:
This Ordinance budgets and appropriates $30,000 to Project No. CD2020 from the U.S.
Department of Housing and Urban Development for design and engineering services to construct
TH
the West 18 Street roadway between Spaulding and Perry Avenues.
PREVIOUS COUNCIL ACTION:
The City Council previously approved Ordinance No. 9792 for an easement to access adjacent
property during construction and budgeted $8,000 for geotechnical and environmental services.
BACKGROUND:
The Chavez Preparatory Academy / Delores Huerta School submitted a CDBG grant request to
th
construct a two-block section of roadway on West 18 Street, connecting the Hyde Park
Neighborhood to Pueblo Boulevard. The project will provide better response times for emergency
services, and in general, be more convenient for neighborhood traffic as traversing the jog from
thth
18 to 24 is not an intuitive path.
It is necessary to contract with an outside engineering firm to accelerate the completion of the
project.
FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS:
This Ordinance approves budgeting and appropriating $30,000 from the U.S. Department of
Housing and Urban Development.
